The actual cost of the service depends upon the severity of winter weather. Metro's 2011 Operating Budget includes $60,000 for this service. The 2012 Operating Budget includes $83,000. Charges are on a per incident basis.

Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with Maple Leaf, Inc. for the removal of snow and ice at the South, East and West Transfer Points, the North Transfer Point, including the Park and Ride connected with the North Transfer Point and the Dutch Mill Park and Ride. This contract will be for the 2011-12 season with four one-year options for renewal by mutual agreement of the Parties.
Body
WHEREAS the City of Madison needs to have the Transfer Points and Park and Rides cleared of snow and ice in order to operate bus service and help keep customers safe; and
WHEREAS the City does not have the capacity to prioritize Transfer Points and Park and Rides over City streets for snow and ice removal; and
WHEREAS this agreement will significantly lower the costs for this service; and
WHEREAS Maple Leaf had the lowest bid for the life of the agreement among the responsive and responsible bidders;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to enter into a one year Agreement for 2011-12 with four one-year options for renewal by mutual agreement of the Parties for snow and ice removal at the Transfer Points and Park and Rides. Estimated funds for this Agreement will be included in the Metro Transit Operating budget for each year of the Agreement.
