Commending and congratulating Fire Chief Debra Amesqua on her nomination for "Chief of the Year" by the Wisconsin State Fire Inspectors Association.
Body
WHEREAS, Fire Chief Debra Amesqua values and advocates for community fire safety measures and education; and,
 
WHEREAS, she supported pursuing a stronger smoke detector ordinance that required tamperproof smoke alarms with 10 year batteries know as the "Peter Talen Smoke Alarm" ordinance; and,
 
WHEREAS, she allowed Madison Fire Department personnel to work tirelessly to advocate for and install over 6,000 working smoke detectors in 1,100 owner-occupied properties; and
 
WHEREAS, Fire Chief Amesqua is being honored for her support, advocacy and assistance in Fire Inspection and Prevention programs locally, regionally and statewide,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council commend and congratulate Fire Chief Debra Amesqua for her outstanding contributions to the Fire Service for Prevention efforts in the City of Madison and the State of Wisconsin.
