Awarding the Fourth Annual Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award to Rachel Krinsky
Body
WHEREAS, Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and the Madison Common Council created the Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award in memory of Jeffrey Erlanger's contributions to the City of Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, a committee appointed by the Mayor has selected Rachel Krinsky, an individual who shares Jeffrey Erlanger's dedication to and compassion for civility and individual human rights; and
 
WHEREAS, Rachel has served as the Executive Director for The Road Home Dane County for the past 11 years; and
 
WHEREAS, under Rachel's leadership, the agency has grown from a small family homeless shelter to an organization that now offers six housing programs for formerly homeless families with children; and
 
WHEREAS, Rachel was the force behind Housing and Hope, an innovative solution for very low-income families in need of housing; and
 
WHEREAS, Rachel has also served on several community committees including the United Way Basic Needs Team, the United Way Housing in Action Leadership Team, the Third Sector Housing Group and the Shelter Providers Group; and
 
WHEREAS, Rachel has shown the ability to work with those from all parts of the City and from all walks of life to help resolve tough issues; and
 
WHEREAS, Rachel is known among those she works with as a team player with respect for her peers;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Rachel Krinsky is the recipient of the fourth annual Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Madison Common Council presents this award to Rachel as a way of honoring Jeffrey's life and inspiring others to his high standard of passion for public policy and civility in public discourse.
