This resolution amends the 2011 Streets Division Capital Budget by the addition of $88,400 of General Obligation Debt and related expenditure authority to Project #8 "Yard Improvements - Sycamore". This amount, when added to the 2010 Capital Budget appropriation of $65,000, will allow the project to proceed into the bidding and construction phase.

Body
WHEREAS the 2010 Capital Budget included an amount of $65,000 for Yard Improvements to the Streets East Facility located at 4602 Sycamore Ave.; and,

WHEREAS the original concept was to improve circulation of the yard waste drop off site by doing minor excavation into the existing berm in the rear yard, pour concrete walls and do minor paving; and,

WHEREAS City Engineering Division and Facilities Management have reviewed the conceptual project for circulation, safety, and structural stability, recommended changes, produced plans and specifications; and,

WHEREAS the final plan creates a safer and more organized environment for our customers by excavating the berm to provide sufficient drop off and bin space, and create a customer vehicle lane that keeps civilian vehicles away from circulating city vehicles and the gas fueling islands; and,

WHEREAS City Streets Division staff feel the final plan greatly improves the employee work environment, customer yard waste drop off environment and overall safe operation of the Sycamore Yard; and,

WHEREAS City Engineering Staff time, Facilities Management Staff time and fees for a Structural Engineering Consultant to review and approve the final plan and specifications...
