Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute a one-year contract with Madison Newspapers, Inc. d/b/a Capital Newspapers, for publication services.
Body
WHEREAS,  Wis. Stat. §985.06 requires municipalities to advertise for bids for an official city newspaper to publish the council proceedings and the city's legal notices for the ensuing year; and
 
WHEREAS,  the City advertised for bids and received one response from a newspaper with a paid circulation and otherwise qualified under Wis. Stat. §985.03: Madison Newspapers, Inc. d/b/a Capital Newspapers on behalf of The Wisconsin State Journal;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a
one-year contract with Madison Newspapers, Inc. d/b/a Capital Newspapers, beginning June 1, 2010 and ending May 31, 2011 with the rate of payment based on the legal rate provided in Wis. Stat. §985.08; and
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that under the contract, The Wisconsin State Journal is designated as the official newspaper of the City of Madison and
will publish the proceedings of the Common Council, ordinances, orders and other official legal notices.
