Establishing a Cultural Plan Steering Committee.
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council passed Resolution File I.D. 10543 on July 17, 2008 authorizing the Madison Arts Commission to issue a request for proposals for the purpose of enlisting the services of a cultural planning consultant to assist the Madison Arts Commission in developing of a Cultural Plan for the City of Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, the Common Council passed Resolution File I.D. 14172 on April 21, 2009 authorizing the City to enter into a contract with Mary Berryman Agard and Associates for the creation of the Madison Cultural Plan; and
 
WHEREAS, the Cultural Plan will explore the broadly defined cultural system in Madison, Wisconsin and will make recommendations for advancing access and participation, cultural facility development, and funding; and
 
WHEREAS the Cultural Plan requires public input and information sharing from the widest possible spectrum of the community through open meetings, focus groups, round tables, individual interviews and electronic data gathering activities; and
 
WHEREAS to ensure broad public participation and acceptance of the plan a Steering Committee is necessary to guide and inform the work of the consultant.
 
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cultural Plan Steering Committee is hereby established and shall include diverse representatives (the exact number to be determined) from: the arts, neighborhoods and community organizations, the business sector, all levels of education, funders and philanthropists, the public sector, and the Madison Arts Commission.
 
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that members of the Cultural Plan Steering Committee shall be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Common Council.
