Title: Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into an agreement with the University of Wisconsin - Madison for the University to purchase and install sixty-three (63) Bus Shelters within the University of Wisconsin - Madison boundaries as well as to provide parts and/or reimburse the City of Madison for parts into perpetuity for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of the shelters, to be done by Metro Transit.

Fiscal Note
The University agrees to provide parts and/or reimburse the City for parts into perpetuity for the maintenance, repair, and replacement of the shelters. Metro will incur some additional labor costs for shelter maintenance and repair that may range from $3,000 - $5,000 annually, as well as a modest property insurance premium increase of perhaps $500. This funding will be included in Metro's annual operating budgets.

PREAMBLE

The University of Wisconsin - Madison Transportation Services is undertaking a project to purchase and install sixty-three (63) new, uniquely designed bus shelters to lend a campus-like character to the area within campus boundaries and to enhance the overall experience of Metro Transit riders. Presently, the campus has a mix of bus shelters, some purchased and installed by Metro Transit, others of different designs purchased and installed by the University. After purchasing and installing the shelters, the University will donate them to the City of Madison. Metro Transit will assume ownership and perform all maintenance, repairs and replacement of the shelters. Any existing Metro Transit shelters that are removed through this upgrade will be returned to Metro, for use at other locations.
