Fiscal Note
Funding for prime lines is provided for in various agencies 2007 budgets. The anticipated increase in cost for 2 new lines for 2007 is a maximum of $8256. ($288 and $400/per month for 12 months). Any additional lines added during the contract will require additional funding. Future costs will be considered in future year budgets.

Whereas, the City currently operates its IP telephone system using "prime" lines which serve as the connection between the City's IP telephone network and the AT & T telephone network at the Spring Street central office (CO) under an "Individual Case Basis" Agreement executed with SBC Global Services, Inc., (now d/b/a AT & T Wisconsin); and
WHEREAS, City Information Services is working to connect the City's IP telephone network with the AT & T telephone network at the Kedzie Street CO so that telephone numbers outside of the Spring Street CO service area can participate in the City's IP telephone system and this requires additional prime lines to be installed; and
Whereas, Information Services has negotiated with AT&T for the installation of several new lines for this purpose, and obtained a 5-year pricing model that is advantageous to the city due to lower monthly pricing in a long-term contract; at a total cost of $400 per month per non-Sonet ring delivered line and $288 per month per Sonet ring delivered line; and
Whereas, Information Services has also negotiated with AT&T for several new "T1" or DSI phone lines, to expand the IP network to eight other locations within the city, including certain fire stations, CDA, and other city sites, and obtained 5-year quotes that are to the city's advantage due to lower monthly pricing in a long-term contract; at a total cost of up to $1208 per month for the eight locations; and
