Total contract amount is $96,512.00. Federal funding covers 80% of the cost. The 20% local share is included in the Engineering-Major Streets 2006 Adopted Capital Budget, Project 17, "South Park Street," in the following accounts:

Title

Authorizing the Mayor and other City officials to execute a contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the construction of traffic signals, street lighting and signing on South Park Street.

Body

WHEREAS, South Park Street is being reconstructed from Regent Street to West Washington Avenue in 2006; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison will furnish and install various traffic signal, street lighting and signing materials under a contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WDOT).  The contract requires that the City indemnify WDOT.  City APM 1-1 requires Common Council approval whenever the City indemnifies another party.  The funding by WDOT for these installations carries low risk and benefits the general public.  

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and other City officials are hereby authorized to execute a contract for construction by City forces with WDOT for supplying and installing various traffic signal, street lighting and signing materials and that the Common Council approves indemnification of WDOT under this contract.
