Fiscal Note
The overall cost to the City will be reduced by an estimated $26,000 per year from the current nine-month contract extension rates (or $57,000 from the prior four-year contract rates) as a result of the competitive bid. Funding for this contract is included in the 2010 Adopted and 2011 Requested Operating Budgets of the Police Department, Metro Transit and Fleet Service.

Body
WHEREAS, the City utilizes a city-wide towing contract to provide towing and related services for City departments  that include Madison Police department (MPD), Fleet Services and Metro Transit; and
 
WHEREAS, the current contract, which is a nine month extension of the original contract for towing services is due to expire on September 30, 2010 and
 
WHEREAS, Purchasing Services, on behalf of MPD, Fleet Services and Metro Transit Departments, solicited competitive proposals under RFP #8095-0-2010/MM, Towing Services,
 
WHEREAS, an evaluation team consisting of staff from the MPD, traffic enforcement section of MPD, Fleet Services and a representative Alderman, conducted a detailed evaluation, scored each of the proposals using criteria that included cost, qualifications, experience, capability, storage facilities, equipment, past performance, and references,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized to enter into and sign a contract on behalf of the City for towing and vehicle storage services, as negotiated by Purchasing Services, for an initial term of four years with two one year renewal options.
