This resolution authorizes the Public Health Department to receive an additional $2,056 from the WDHFS for WIC services in 2004.  There is no anticipated impact upon cost controls or the tax levy.

Authorizing the Madison Department of Public Health to accept an additional $2056 from the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services  (WDHFS) Division of Public Health to support the Women, Infants and Children Nutrition Program during the period of January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004, and authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to sign for the City.
Body
WHEREAS, the Madison Department of Public Health has conducted a Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) since 1981; and
 
WHEREAS, the WIC Program is highly effective in improving the health and nutritional status of women (pregnant, breastfeeding, and post-partum), infants, and children who are eligible for the Program based on income and health risk factors; and
 
WHEREAS, the State of Wisconsin's Department of Health and Family Services Division of Public Health has awarded the WIC Program an additional $2056 for a total of $445,037 for the period of January 1, 2004 through December 31, 2004;
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Department of Public Health is authorized to accept $2056 to support service provision of the WIC Program and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign a contract on behalf of the City.
