Authorizing the City of Madison, through the Office of Community Services, to accept a Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance, and authorizing the City to enter into a purchase of service contract for the implementation of this grant.
Body
WHEREAS the United States Attorney's Office released a request for proposals to support neighborhood-based activities that reduce gun related crime and violence through the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative; and
WHEREAS the City of Madison has been awarded $ 24,288 in Project Safe Neighborhood funds from the State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance on behalf of the United States Attorney Western District of Wisconsin for the period October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005; and
WHEREAS the City/County/United Way Human Services Partnership Committee developed a plan, in consultation with the Dane County Disproportionate Minority Confinement Committee, for these funds which implements projects focused on needs in Madison's challenge neighborhoods and meets the grant eligibility requirements; and
WHEREAS the Disproportionate Minority Confinement Committee conducted a competitive process and selected the Urban League of Greater Madison as the service provider for this collaborative project.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Madison, through the Office of Community Services, is authorized to accept a Project Safe Neighborhoods grant award from the Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance for the period of October 1, 2004 through September 30, 2005; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into a Purchase of Service Agreement, through the Office of Community Services, with the Urban League of Greater Madison in ...
