Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes the acceptance of up to $12,000 in donations to fund a 50th anniversary recognition event for paramedic service, hosted by the Madison Fire Department. The resolution also amends the Department’s 2023 adopted operating budget to increase agency donation revenue and supplies expenses by $12,000. It is expected that the donations will fund most, if not all, of the costs of the event. Any additional costs will need to be absorbed in the Department's existing budget.

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Fire Department (MFD) will be celebrating 50 years of paramedic service in May;

WHEREAS, UW Health, Firefighters Local 311, Stryker Medical, Pomasl Fire, and additional partners of the MFD have offered donations to support the event;

WHEREAS, the event is expected to have an estimated 400 to 500 people in attendance with catering available;

WHEREAS, the event will be primarily funded by donations and contributions;

WHEREAS, Madison Fire Department’s 2023 adopted operating budget will need to be amended to increase donation revenue by the expected total amount of donations and increase the department’s supplies budget by the same amount;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Madison Fire Department is authorized to accept up to $12,000 in contributions and donations from UW Health, Firefighters Local 311, Stryker, Pomasl, and any other community partners interested to contributing to the 50th anniversary event;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Common Council amends the 2023 adopted operating budget for the Madison Fire department by increasing donation revenue ...
