Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison, Dane County Human Services and United Way of Dane County had previously funded alternative transportation services utilizing Women's Transit Authority as the service provider for both day-time and night-time services; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, Women's Transit Authority was no longer able to perform these services; and

WHEREAS, the 2007 adopted operating budget provides $89,200 for alternative transportation services in the Community Resources program within the Office of Community Services budget; and

WHEREAS, the 2007 adopted operating budget provides $43,000 for start-up funds for alternative transportation services, to be matched by the service provider, in the Community Resources program within the Office of Community Services budget; and

WHEREAS, the Office of Community Services, in collaboration with Dane County Human Services and United Way of Dane County, released a Request For Proposals seeking a vendor for alternative transportation services on December 5, 2006 to be jointly funded by all three entities; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison, Dane County Human Services and United Way of Dane County have determined that an acceptable proposal was received from the YWCA of Madison to provide both daytime and nighttime alternative transportation services.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Community Services Commission recommends the City enter into a contract with the YWCA of Madison to develop, implement and manage alternative transportation services; and
