The proposed resolution amends the Fire Department's 2025 Adopted Operating Budget to accept grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management in the amount of $12,463. There is no required City match. No additional appropriation is required.

Amending the 2025 adopted operating budget for the City of Madison Fire Department to accept $12,463.05 from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management for the City of Madison Hazmat Regional Emergency Response/WHMRS Equipment Grant.

 

Body

WHEREAS, Wisconsin Emergency Management (WEM) is authorized to make grant funds available under the Hazmat Regional Emergency Response grant program as described in the Notice of Funding Opportunity;

 

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Fire Department applied to WEM for the grant funds and WEM has approved the application;

 

WHEREAS, the grant funding will be used primarily for equipment and supplies, including mobile radios, gas monitors, and hazmat kits, per the accepted grant application and budget;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the City of Madison Fire Department’s 2025 adopted operating budget is amended to appropriate $12,463.05 as grant revenue in the Fire and EMS Operations service and to increase the supplies budget by the same amount;

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City of Madison formally accepts $12,463.05 from the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs, Division of Emergency Management for the City of Madison Hazmat Regional Emergency Response/WHMRS Equipment Grant and authorizes the Mayor to sign the award letter and grant agreement.
