Title

Amending various portions of Section 29.40 and 1.08(4)(d) of the Madison General Ordinances to update language and requirements of the Building Energy Savings Code regarding timing and to provide citation authority to the Sustainability and Resilience Manager.

DRAFTER’S ANALYSIS:    This ordinance makes several minor changes to the Building Energy Savings Code regarding the timing provisions associated with submitting for extensions and exemptions from the reporting requirements. Based upon staff experience, it was felt that additional time for such submittals was appropriate and that not as much time was needed for the City to grant or deny such requests. In addition, this ordinance would provide citation authority over the enforcement of the Building Energy Savings Code to the City’s Sustainability and Resilience Manager, or designee. Currently, enforcement is only provided to the Building Inspection Division. This change will allow the staff who administer this ordinance the ability to enforce the terms thereof directly without having to rely upon Building Inspection staff.
