Building Inspection anticipates no significant net fiscal impact, as administrative savings associated with managing the on-line data will offset any loss of revenue, and any additional administrative effort and expense associated with management of paper forms will be compensated by the increased fee in 2016.

Amending Section 27.04(2)(k)5. of the Madison General Ordinances eliminating the fee for online filing of rental dwelling contact information.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This proposal eliminates the fee for filing contact information with the Building Inspection Division if the information is filed online, rather than filed by paper form. Additionally, effective May 4, 2016, the filing fee is increased from $5 to $10 for filing by paper form.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Paragraph 5. of Subdivision (k) of Subsection (2) of Section 27.04 entitled "Minimum Standards for Basic Equipment, Lighting, Ventilation, Heating, and Electrical Service" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
"5. A fee in the amount of ($5) five dollars ($5) per parcel shall be paid to the City Treasurer at the time the updated information is provided by printed form. This annual fee shall be fixed for a period of 5 years from the date this ordinance is enacted No fee shall be charged if the information is submitted online. Effective May 4, 2016, the fee shall increase from five dollars ($5) to ten dollars ($10)."
