The additional costs billed to the City under this MOU would be offset by savings due to reduced repair and maintenance costs previously budgeted under Traffic Engineering Account #GN01-54404-57514, as follows:
Annual Maintenance of old generator costs = $750
Annual maintenance charges from WECB for new generator = $270
Annual City saving under proposed agreement = $480

A resolution authorizing the CityTraffic Engineer and Parking Manager to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board (WECB) relating to a cost sharing agreement for operating an emergency generator.
Body
WHEREAS,the City of Madison rents a suite at the University Community Radio Tower located at Pleasant View Road in Madison for broadcast operations of public works and public safety radio communications; and
WHEREAS, the WECB, A state agency, rents a suite adjacent to the City’s Suite, and due to limited available space, the WECB and the City both have used a city-owned emergency back-up power generator;
WHEREAS, as the old generator has become obsolete and the associated maintenance and repair costs have increased dramatically over time and many replacement parts are no longer available;
WHEREAS, the annual routine maintenance costs for the old generator exceeds $700;
WHEREAS, the WECB has purchased a new diesel-fueled emergency generator and has offered to install it and remove the old generator and assume responsibility for overseeing the operation of the new generator;
WHEREAS, per a proposed MOU, the City would share fuel, maintenance and emergency repair costs associated with the new generator with the WECB.
WHEREAS, the City would be responsible for the costs of connecting the new generator with the City’s suite;
WHEREAS, the cost sharing would be based on each entity’s calculated percentage of the total electrical load (70% to WECB and 30% to the City). The City’s portion ...
