The proposed resolution approves an agreement effective for 2022 and 2023 with Dane County for Type III Hazardous Materials Team Response Services to be provided by the Fire Department. The agreement includes a two-year renewal option for 2024 and 2025. Funding from the County includes $39,000 to support administrative and vehicle costs and $8,500 in direct hazmat incident response supply costs. Funding and expenses will be included in future Fire Department operating budget requests.

Body
The City has an agreement with Dane County for Type III hazardous materials response that expires on December 31, 2021. Dane County wishes to continue to contract for Type III hazardous materials response. The new contract is effective January 1, 2022 and expires on December 31, 2023. This agreement can be renewed with one two-year option January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2025.
The City will receive up to $49,000 annually for these services. The County will make cash payment of $39,000 annually for services. The County will also pay the City with purchased equipment of no less than $8,500 and no more than $10,000.
WHEREAS, the City wishes to continue a contract with Dane County for hazardous materials response within the County for the purpose of providing Type III Hazardous Materials Response Services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council approve the contract with Dane County for Type III hazardous materials response effective January 1, 2022.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council approves the two-year option to extend the contract beyond December 31, 2023.
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute this agreement.
