This project is funded through the 2025 Room Tax fund Music allocation for Tourism Study/Implemetation. This resolution authorizes a contract with The Creative Company, Inc. that will not exceed $14,060. No additional City appropriations needed.

Title

Authorizing the Planning Division to enter into a contract with The Creative Company, Inc. to develop a regional music brand for the Greater Madison area in alignment with the goals of the Greater Madison Music City initiative.

Body

WHEREAS, the Greater Madison Region Music City Team was created as a result of the Task Force on Equity in Music and Entertainment Report, accepted by the Common Council on February 26, 2019 (RES-19-00159; File ID #53956); and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison Arts Program is an active member of the Greater Madison Music City Team led by the Urban Community Arts Network; and

 

WHEREAS, the Greater Madison Music City initiative is a collaborative effort designed to strengthen the Madison region’s music ecosystem, including musicians: music venues, cultural producers, and night economy stakeholders; and

 

WHEREAS, one of the initiative’s key goals is to develop a unified and inclusive brand that promotes the Madison region as a vibrant and equitable music destination for residents and visitors alike; and

WHEREAS, cities across the country have created regional music brands to boost tourism, cultural identity, and economic vitality through music, nightlife, and creative industries; and

WHEREAS, the Planning Division, in collaboration with community partners and members of the Greater Madison Music City team, has identified the need to contract with a professional marketing company to lead the development of a music brand through community engagement, visual identity design, and a public-facing launch strategy and has selected The Creative Company, Inc. as that company; and

WHEREAS, the proposed contract will be funded through the Room Tax Commission budget and will follow the City of Madison’s purchasing and procurement guidelines.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Madison Planning Division is hereby authorized to enter into a contract with The Creative Company Inc, not to exceed $14,060; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the brand development process shall include engagement with musicians, night economy workers, artists, and underrepresented communities to ensure equitable representation and authenticity in the final product; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Common Council authorizes the Planning Division Director and the Finance Director, to execute all agreements required to administer the agreement on behalf of the City with The Creative Company, Inc.
