Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution recreates nine (9) 0.3 FTE Transit Operators as two (2) 1.0 FTE Transit Operators within Metro Transit. This results in a 0.7 FTE reduction in Metro's authorized positions and is cost neutral. No additional appropriation is required.

Title

Recreating nine (9) 0.3 FTE Transit Operator positions into two (2) 1.0 FTE Transit Operator positions in order to more effectively provide service with less overtime.

Body

WHEREAS, Metro Transit has both full-time and part-time Transit Operators; and

WHEREAS, Metro Transit has been more successful in attracting full-time Transit Operators when hiring; and

WHEREAS, part-time Transit Operators are currently limited to the type of work they are able to do; and

WHEREAS, Metro Transit is able to use full-time Transit Operators in a more flexible way to work necessary runs and provide greater coverage; and

WHEREAS, in order to maximize efforts to keep a full Transit Operator staff and meet the service demands of the agency;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the following 0.3 FTE Transit Operator positions are deleted and recreated as 1.0 FTE Transit operator positions - 2837 and 2960 - and the following 0.3 FTE Transit Operator positions are deleted - 2973, 2989, 2999, 3038, 3446, 3481, and 3506, all in the Metro Transit Operating budget, thereof.
