Authorizing the noncompetitive purchase of $59,000 in goods and services from Envisionware, Inc. for the purchase of RFID technology to be installed at Meadowridge, Sequoya and Goodman South Madison branches.

Body

WHEREAS, Madison Public Library requires RFID equipment, including gates, self-check and pad readers, for the tracking of collections materials; and,

 

WHEREAS, there are only two vendors with compatible equipment and software to the South Central Library System software: Bibliotheca and Envisionware; and,

 

WHEREAS, Madison Public Library has used Bibliotheca in the past and has received declining support over the years, and Envisionware, a new vendor in the past few years, has compatible equipment, excellent support, and has lower cost maintenance and support; and,

 

WHEREAS, MGO 4.26(2) requires goods and services to be purchased using a competitive process approved by the Finance Director, and under the Finance Director's Purchasing Guidelines, Library Board approval is required to purchase goods and services of $50,000 or more without a competitive process;

 

NOOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Madison Public Library Board hereby authorizes the purchase of $59,000 in RFID equipment from Envisionware, Inc.
