Fiscal Note

The annualized cost of the proposed amendment is approximately $18,050, including benefits. The estimated cost does not include any projected savings from overtime reductions. The increased cost associated with converting the positions will be absorbed within Metro’s 2020 personnel budget.

Recreating 24 0.3 FTE Transit Operator positions into 7 1.0 FTE Transit Operator positions in order to more effectively provide service with less overtime.

Body

WHEREAS, Metro Transit has both full-time and part-time Transit Operators; and

 

WHEREAS, Metro Transit reliance on part-time drivers has increased its overtime budget as service needs increase, and

 

WHEREAS, in order to recruit more effectively, Metro Transit has concluded that offering full-time Transit Operator positions would be attractive to candidates, and

 

WHEREAS, Metro Transit needs to create additional full-time positions in order to reduce overtime and effectively recruit, and

 

WHEREAS, Metro Transit has a number of vacant 0.3 FTE part-time Transit Operator positions that can be combined into full-time positions;

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the following 0.3 FTE Transit Operator positions are deleted and recreated as 1.0 FTE Transit Operator positions-2682, 2735, 2737, 2747, 2875, 2908, and 2957, and the following 0.3 FTE Transit Operator positions are deleted-2963, 2993, 3422, 3423, 3424, 3445, 3447, 3479, 3615, 3966, 3967, 3968, 4055, 4056, 4360, 4361, and 4362, all in the Metro Transit operating budget, thereof.
