Fiscal Note

The proposed resolution authorizes the agreements with MG&E and Dane County for electric charging stations at three sites. The Common Council accepted a grant agreement via Legistar file 47699 which includes plans for charging station installation and maintenance by MG&E. No appropriation is required.

Authorizing Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Site Specific Agreements.

Body

WHEREAS, RES-17-00589, Legistar File No. 47699 was adopted by the Council on 7/11/17 and approved the acceptance of a grant from MG&E to support the purchase of three electric vehicles and authorized the City to enter into a grant agreement with MG&E for this purpose; and,

WHEREAS, under the terms of the Community Electric Vehicle Deployment Grant Agreement (attached), the City will replace three gasoline-powered vehicles with electric vehicles and allow MG&E to install electric vehicle charging stations for the grant supported electric vehicles at Madison Metro, the Water Utility, and the City-County Building; and,

WHEREAS, in order to allow MG&E to enter City property to install and maintain the charging stations, it will be necessary to enter into site specific charging station agreements with MG&E; and,

WHEREAS, because of the joint ownership of the City-County Building, Dane County will be required to be a party to the charging station agreement for the City-County Building,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into charging station agreements with MG&E and Dane County for the three sites in question, on terms consistent with those set forth in Exhibits C and D of the attached Community Electric Vehicle Deployment Grant Agreement, in a format approved by the City Attorney and the Risk Manager.
