The proposed resolution amends the Planning Division’s 2024 Adopted Operating Budget to accept and appropriate an additional $500 in the Wisconsin Art Board Grant revenues. It further authorizes the Planning Division Director to execute agreements for the 2024-2025 Arts Grants awards in the total amount of $101,000 as recommended by the Madison Arts commission. The 2024 Adopted Operating Budget includes funding for such grants in the Planning Division and the Room Tax Fund.

WHEREAS, the Planning Division’s Adopted Operating Budget includes $11,000 in anticipated Wisconsin Arts Board Grant revenues and the actual award to the City is $11,500; and
WHEREAS, The Madison Arts Commission has the authority, by ordinance, to annually recommend arts grants for approval by the Common Council; and,
WHEREAS, by the March 1st annual grant application deadline the Madison Arts Commission received 63 applications for arts projects funding, totaling $186, 295 in requests; and,
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission, and its subcommittees, met on March 18, March 19, and March 20 to evaluate the applications received for the 2024-2025 grant period and on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the full Commission voted to recommend funding of 57 projects for grant awards totaling $101, 000; and.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council amends the 2024 Adopted Operating Budget for the Planning Division to appropriate an additional $500 in Wisconsin Arts board Grant revenues; and
