Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution appoints Sabrina Madison to fill the vacant alderperson position for District 17 and to serve until the spring 2023 election. Funding for the position is available in the Common Council 2022 Adopted Operating Budget and is included in the 2023 Executive Operating Budget. No additional appropriation is required

Appointing Sabrina Madison as Alderperson for District 17 to serve until the Spring 2023 election
Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council Executive Committee met on October 20, 2022, to make a recommendation on the appointment of an Alderperson for District 17 according to the procedures outlined in Madison General Ordinances 2.03; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council Executive Committee reviewed the resumes submitted and interviewed the applicants; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council Executive Committee recommends that Sabrina Madison be appointed to fill the vacated District 17 aldermanic seat; and,
WHEREAS, the Common Council shall appoint and confirm the recommended candidate, or appoint and confirm another candidate among the applicants, per MGO 2.03(4);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Sabrina Madison is hereby appointed to the position of Alderperson for District 17 effective immediately, to serve until an election is held in the spring of 2023 and a qualified District 17 Alderperson is elected and sworn-in on April 18, 2023.
