Fiscal Note
This resolution authorizes a one-year agreement with Madison Mavericks LLC for the team’s use of Warner Park Community Recreation Center and to provide youth programming. The agreement will set forth the terms and conditions upon which the City will allow Mavericks to use portions of Warner Park Community Recreation Center for games, practices and programs and to provide mentoring, coaching and physical enrichment programs. In addition to the allowing use of gym and meeting space in exchange for providing youth mentoring and programming, the City will pay Mavericks $5,000 that will be used for youth training and employment opportunities related to the programming. These expenses will be recognized in the Parks Division Operating Budget.

WHEREAS, the City is the owner of certain park facilities in the City of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, known as Warner Park Community Recreation Center, located at 1625 Northport Drive in Madison, and certain equipment used for recreational programming, including gymnasium facilities (“gym”); and,

WHEREAS, The Warner Park Community Recreation Center's mission is to provide a gathering place that provides innovative growth and enrichment opportunities for the Madison community and connects people of all ages, races, and cultural backgrounds; and,

WHEREAS, in 2019, the City in partnership with Madison Parks Foundation established the Kids Need Opportunities at Warner (KNOW) program in partnership with the Madison Parks Foundation (MPF) to provide meaningful opportunities for teens and families to engage in free or low-cost programming at the WPCRC.
