The proposed resolution authorizes an addendum to the existing contract for the Law Park - Preliminary Report. Sufficient budget authority exists in the Law Park Improvements project (MUNIS 17362) to fund the proposed resolution.

Current Contract Amount: $189,985
Additional cost to the City of Madison is not to exceed a total of $78,355

Body
WHEREAS, The City of Madison has previously entered into a contract for Professional Services with SmithGroup, Inc. to provide limited professional consultant services for the Law Park - Preliminary Report project; and

WHEREAS, the Parks Division seeks to expand the project area to include portions of the John Nolen Drive causeway and Olin Park; and

WHEREAS, SmithGroup, Inc. proposed a contract amendment price of $78,355 for additional consultant services not previously contemplated in the original contract scope of services for the Law Park - Preliminary Report; and

WHEREAS, under MGO 4.26(3) service contracts of more than three years in duration and more than $50,000 per year require approval of the Common Council; and

WHEREAS, for the reasons stated in the attached Noncompetitive Selection Request Form, the proposed contract amendment with SmithGroup, Inc. meets the exception to the bidding process in section 4.26(4)(a)7. which states “A particular consultant has provided services to the City on a similar or continuing project in the recent past, and it would be economical to the City on the basis of time and money to retain the same consultant”; and

WHEREAS, SmithGroup, Inc. is qualified to do this work.
