Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a double-fill of the Horticulturalist position in the Parks Division for approximately 11 weeks. The cost of the double-fill is approximately $13,600, including benefits, and will be funded thorugh the management of salary savings within the Parks Division operating budget.

Authorizing a double-fill of the position of Horticulturalist due to the retirement of John Wirth.
Body
WHEREAS, Horticulturalist John Wirth is retiring from City of Madison employment effective September 1, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Wirth’s last day of work will be June 30, 2017 and he will be using leave to cover the last 2 months of employment; and
WHEREAS, this position is critical to the smooth operations of Olbrich Botanical Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the Parks Division is requesting the authorization to double-fill the position held by Mr. Wirth in order to ensure an orderly transition, and
WHEREAS, the Parks Division intends to recruit to fill the position on or about June 19, 2017 in order to allow the selected candidate time to work with Mr. Wirth to learn the position, and
WHEREAS, the double-fill will exceed thirty (30) days;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Parks Division is authorized to double-fill the position of Horticulturalist from approximately June 19, 2017 through September 1, 2017, which will be Mr. Wirth’s final date on the payroll.
