Body

PREAMBLE

A young Madison resident, Emilly Zhu, died recently as a result of a tragic crash at the intersection of Raymond Road and the Ice age Junction Path.  Her family and friends wish to donate a bench, in her memory, to be placed along the path near the site. City Engineering has determined that a bench would be a valuable amenity for the path.  An appropriate location on public land within City-owned easement has been selected in consultation with City Engineering, the family, friends and neighbors. City Engineering will purchase and install the bench and will accept a donation from the family to cover these costs.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,

That the Common Council approves the acceptance of a donation from the family and friends of Emilly Zhu for the purpose of a memorial bench and authorizes the City Engineer to purchase and install the bench, which will become property of the City within City-owned easement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the 2015 Operating Budget of Engineering be amended to include the $2,400 donation to cover the cost of the bench.
