Fiscal Note
Under this agreement, MATC will provide Fire and EMS training and testing services and will use certified instructors employed by the Fire Department. The 2014 Fire Department Operating Budget includes $13,200 for costs associated with EMT training and $1,600 for firefighter and EMS testing. The Budget also includes $6,000 in revenue from MATC for compensation of the Fire Department instructors.

Body
The City of Madison Fire Department must train new employees (recruit classes) and provide refresher training to maintain ongoing certiification/licensure for emergency response personnel. MATC and the Fire Department have worked closely together for many years so that certified fire/ems instructors employed by the Fire Department are able to conduct the required training for Fire Department employees. MATC has also provided additional instructors to supplement or assist Fire Department instructors as required to meet recommended instructor to student ratio.

MATC controls curriculum and provides MFD personnel certain training courses and testing services. The Fire Department provides qualified and State certified instructors.

MATC is paid for its training and testing services by the City. The City is reimbursed by MATC for the instructional services provided by our MFD State certified instructors.Both expense and revenue for this program is included in the 2014 Fire Department budget

The term of this agreement starts on September 10, 2013 and ends on June 30,2014. The agreement may be extended for a period of up to three years starting on July 1. Any extension to this agreement must be executed in writing and signed by both parties. The Fire Chief can execute the extension of this agreement for the City.
