Estimated revenues for the two year agreement term are $4,800 and will be deposited into the Golf Enterprise Fund (EG01), as the maintenance for the site is conducted by Yahara Golf Course Maintenance staff.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has provided space in parkland for operation of radio-controlled model airplanes for over three decades; and
 
WHEREAS, the Madison Area Radio Control Society (MARCS), which is affiliated with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) and as such subscribes to a strict code of safety in the operation of model airplanes, wishes to continue to use City parkland for this purpose; and
 
WHEREAS, the Parks Division, by the authority conferred in Sec. 8.30, Madison General Ordinances, and in the interest of citizen safety, has not allowed radio-controlled model airplanes to be operated in any other park in the City except Kettle Field; and
 
WHEREAS, the maintenance is currently performed by the Golf Course Maintenance staff, revenues will be deposited into the Golf Enterprise Fund to cover maintenance expenses incurred; and
 
WHEREAS, the parties have agreed to the terms and conditions of MARCS continued use of Kettle Field whereby MARCS will pay an annual fee of $2,400 for 2013 and $2,400 for 2014 to cover all City costs for the maintenance of the parkland, located north of the Yahara Hills Golf Course, for the safe operation of radio-controlled model airplanes.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into a two (2) year contract with two additional one year renewal options with MARCS beginning January 1, 2013, for the use of Kettle Field for the operation of radio-controlled model airplanes.
