Commending Stuart Levitan on his exceptional service as Commissioner and Chair of the Community Development Authority and his many other positions of trust for the City of Madison.

Body
WHEREAS, Stuart Levitan served on the Community Development Authority from June, 2000 to July, 2013, the longest tenure of any Commissioner; and,

WHEREAS, Stuart Levitan served as Chair of the CDA from 2005 through 2008; and,

WHEREAS, as Chair of the CDA Stuart Levitan was instrumental in the planning, approval, construction and successful opening of the Revival Ridge project on Allied Drive; and,

WHEREAS, during Stuart Levitan’s tenure as Chair the CDA developed a Framework for the Mosaic Ridge homeownership phase of the Allied Redevelopment, adopted a Master Plan to develop the Villager Mall into The Village on Park and began its implementation, attained High Performer status for both its Housing Choice (Section 8) Voucher and Low Rent Public Housing programs, established a program for the issuance of Project-Based Housing Vouchers, adopted a Master Plan for renovation of the Truax Park Apartments and began its implementation, adopted a Redevelopment Plan and issued tax-exempt bonds to assist in the construction of the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery/Morgridge Institute for Research, expanded the activities of the Capital Revolving Fund and the Façade Improvement Grant program, served as the Local Redevelopment Authority for the disposition of the Truman Olson Army Reserve property, undertook the Lake Point Condominium Project, oversaw the award-winning New Monona Shores apartments and successfully administered numerous federal, state and local programs for affordable housing and economic development; and,

WHEREAS, prior to his appointment to the CDA Stuart Levitan served as Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Vice Chair of the Plan Commission, and continues to serve as Chair of the Landmarks Commission,
