Fiscal Note
No appropriation is required for this resolution supporting application and acceptance of the grant. The skate park project is currently included in the Central Park project in the 2013 Parks Capital Budget (Project No. 23, 810625) and includes $300,000 from City Park Impact Fees and $450,000 from external sources.

Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison Parks Division and the Madison Skatepark Fund continue to build on a successful relationship and work towards development of a skatepark in Central Park; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison supports the development of the skatepark in Central Park; and

WHEREAS, the adopted Central Park Master Plan identifies a skatepark as one of its primary elements and sets aside a site within Central Park for the skatepark; and

WHEREAS, the 2013 City of Madison Capital Budget includes $750,000 to develop a skatepark, $300,000 of which comes from City Park Impact Fees; and

WHEREAS, the Capital Budget calls for an additional $450,000 to be raised from external sources to develop the skatepark; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Skatepark Fund has provided leadership in aiding the Parks Division to identify funding opportunities for the skate park project; and

WHEREAS, the City of Madison, in collaboration with the Madison Skatepark Fund, is applying for a Dane County Partners for Recreation and Conservation (PARC) grant in the amount of $200,000 to support the costs of developing the Central Park skatepark,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Madison Common Council supports the grant application for a Dane County PARC grant for the Central Park skatepark project; and
