Body
Section 8.21 of the Madison General Ordinances, "Public Parks to Be Closed During Certain Hours", provides that parks shall be closed at 10 p.m. except where closing hours may be extended by the Superintendent of Parks to 11 p.m. due to approved scheduled recreational events. It further provides that the Common Council may by Resolution permit specific parks to be open after 11 p.m. for designated events approved by the Common Council.
Madison Fireworks, Inc. is hosting its 21st annual Rhythm & Booms Independence Day fireworks event to provide an evening of musically choreographed fireworks to benefit the citizens of Madison and local charities on Wednesday July 3, 2013 and requests that Warner Park remain open until 11:30 p.m.
The Park Commission recommends that the Common Council approve the extension of the closing hours of Warner Park from 10:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on July 3, 2013 to allow the 21st annual "Rhythm & Booms " Independence Day fireworks event of musically choreographed fireworks.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council hereby extends the closing hours for Warner Park from 10:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m. on July 3, 2013 to allow the 21st annual "Rhythm & Booms " Independence Day event of musically choreographed fireworks for the enjoyment of the citizens of Madison.
