Congratulating the Hooper Corporation on its 100th anniversary.
Body
WHEREAS, in 1913, Hooper Corporation, first known as the C.A. Hooper Company, began as a steam fitting, heating and construction company on E. State Street in Madison, later relocating to W. Gilman Street and finally to its current location on Pennsylvania Avenue; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1933, the New Deal was signed and federal funding gave Hooper the opportunity to increase work with federal, state and university jobs; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1953, with the help of Hooper linemen and the Rural Electric Administration, power was brought to over 85% of rural homes and farms; and
 
WHEREAS, in 1994, Hooper Corporation purchased General Heating and Air Conditioning, adding heating/ventilation/and air conditioning to its list of services; and
 
WHEREAS, Hooper Corporation's reach now extends nationwide and into Canada; and
 
WHEREAS, the Hooper Company currently employs between 400 and 500 people; and
 
WHEREAS, through the Hooper Foundation, Hooper Corporation has been a generous community partner, supporting a number of local organizations, including health and wellness, education, hunger and homelessness, and arts and culture;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate the Hooper Corporation on its 100th anniversary.
