Authorizing the sole source purchase of services from Command Central for maintenance of 99 Optech IIIPE (Eagle) election tabulators and 88 AutoMark Voter Assist Terminals.
Body
WHEREAS, the integrity of election results depends in part on the maintenance and repair of our electronic election equipment; and
 
WHEREAS, broken parts on election equipment are identified by the Clerk's Office during the public test of election equipment prior to each election; and
 
WHEREAS, Command Central is on standby to make any necessary repairs the day before each election; and
 
WHEREAS, Command Central has extra AutoMark Voter Assist Terminals and tabulators available for the City of Madison to use as replacements, if needed, on Election Day; and
 
WHEREAS, the purchase of additional used election equipment in 2012 and the combination of separate tabulator and AutoMark maintenance agreements now requires a contract for the maintenance of election equipment; and
 
WHEREAS, the City Clerk's Office budget has funding to cover this cost;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Common Council hereby authorizes the sole source purchase of services from Command Central for the purposes of tabulator and AutoMark maintenance at a cost not to exceed $56,760;
 
AND, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to sign a service contract for the above described services.
