Body
[PREAMBLE

The Madison Fire Department is implementing a new reporting system and mobile application that will allow EMS data to be transferred from the first arriving Madison Fire Department unit to subsequent responding units electronically while the subsequent unit is still in-route to the scene. This transmission of data to incoming medical units will provide for improvements in continuity of patient care, more accurate and timely reporting and allow us to reduce/eliminate paper documentation.

An anonymous donor has reached out to the Madison Fire Department and is donating $8,000 which will be used to purchase 20 Apple i Pads for implementation of this project.  The donor is a Madison Landlord who appreciates the services provided by the Fire Department and wishes to express his appreciation to the Department.

City Information Technology has reviewed this  project and approved the use of i pads as a pilot program.

The budget for this budget is:

GN01-55155-722310  8,000

WHEREAS, the Council supports  the Madison Fire Department pilot program to electronically transfer EMS data to incoming units.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this funding will be used to purchase 20 Apple i pads.

BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council amends the 2012 Fire Operating budget to allow for this purchase.
