The Resolution awards a Signature Art Grant of $5,000. Funding is authorized in the 2012 Adopted Planning Division operating budget. No additional appropriation is required.

SUBSTITUTE Seeking Common Council approval of the 2012 Signature Art Grant award as recommended by the Madison Arts Commission.
Body
WHEREAS, The Madison Arts Commission has the authority, by ordinance, to annually recommend arts grants for approval by the Common Council; and
WHEREAS, the Madison Arts Commission met on October 17, 2012 to evaluate the Signature Grant applications received for the 2012-2013 grant period; and
WHEREAS, they reviewed the applications, scored the applicants based on criteria outlined in the application, and voted to award the $5000 Signature Grant to Arts Wisconsin Inc. on behalf of Fresco Opera Theatre Company for "The Real Divas of Dane County" an original production using traditional operatic music in a new staged production.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Madison Common Council approves the aforementioned proposed use of 2012-2013 grant award funding and authorizes the Planning Division Director to execute a Signature Grant agreement on behalf of the City, in a form approved by the City Attorney.
