Fiscal Note
Per the attached agreement, MWU will pay for 50% of the cost to construct and install the monitoring wells and 100% of the cost of two years of quarterly sampling at the wells.

Budget authority for monitoring well installation has been requested in the 2012 Executive Operating Budget.
Estimated Cost: $3,000 for 50% (MWU's share), Account # EW01-54301-640000

Budget authority for quarterly sampling has been requested in the 2012 Executive Operating Budget. Future year funding will be requested in the utility's operating budgets.

Title
Resolution authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an agreement with the Lenhart Company, Inc. for the installation of three monitoring wells at University Crossing (19th AD).

Body
WHEREAS, Lenhart is the potential purchaser of property at University Avenue and North Whitney Way; and

WHEREAS, due to site’s proximity to Madison Water Utility Unit Well 14 and its former industrial uses, the Madison Water Utility, neighborhood residents, and the developer have agreed to monitor for any negative impacts of construction on groundwater quality; and

WHEREAS, Lenhart and the Madison Water Utility have agreed to cooperate with each other in connection with the installation of certain monitoring wells; and

WHEREAS, the Madison Water Utility and the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey will benefit from water level and quality data from these monitoring wells; and

NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to enter into an agreement with the Lenhart Company, Inc. for the installation of three monitoring wells at University Crossing.

Per the attached Groundwater Monitoring Well agreement,

1. Three monitoring wells will be installed at the locations noted in the Site Plan (attached). The cost to construct and install the monitoring wells shall be paid 50% by Lenhart and 50% by Madis...
