Commending Alderperson Santiago Rosas for his dedicated service to his constituents from April 20, 1993 to April 17, 2007.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Santiago Rosas was elected on April 6, 1993 to represent the 17th District; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Santiago Rosas served on the Alcohol License Review Committee, Ad Hoc Committee to Investigate Alcohol Use In Parks and Central City, Ad Hoc Committee on Civil Rights Department Common Council Organizational Committee, Community Development Block Grant Commission, East Washington Avenue Design Oversight Committee, Equal Opportunities Commission, Habitat Stewardship Committee (Parks Commission Subcommittee), Board of Park Commissioners, SBE Special Appeals Committee, Madison Tree Board (Parks Commission Subcommittee), Transportation Commission, and Board of Public Works; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Santiago Rosas served as President Pro Tem for the terms 1998-1999 and 2005-2006; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Santiago Rosas is most proud his work on defeating a resolution to make English the official city language, having the first roundabout in the city, his work on the issues of cruising, economic development in the 17th District, adding new playground equipment, soccer fields, cricket fields and dog parks to district parks, working on the development of the Sycamore bike path, and being a strong and vocal advocate for the Latino community; and,
WHEREAS, Alderperson Santiago Rosas through his hard work and dedication to his aldermanic duties has faithfully and with honor served his constituents and the City of Madison,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Santiago Rosas for his dedicated service to his constituents and the City of Madison and wish him well in all his future endeavors.
